About the Scientists

Mom Lab is a space where we can share the experiences of motherhood from a scientist’s perspective. Toni and Sarah are both Ph.D. basic scientists working in an academic environment and who entered the crazy world of motherhood in 2009. Please let us know if there is something you want us to write about!

Sarah obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 2007 and was recently promoted to faculty at Wake Forest University. She was awarded a beginning grant-in-aid from the American Heart Association in 2010. Her research interests include women’s health and hypertension. Her son “Mr. H” was born in July 2009 and has definitely made life more interesting!

Toni obtained her Ph.D. in  Biology in Madrid in 2001 and is currently completing her postdoctoral fellowship. She recently started a radiation oncology training program and is researching treatments for brain cancer. Her daughter Sofia was born in April 2009 and is quite the character!
